Car Insurance Isuzu (Car Insurance). compression on johnson outboard motor?compression on johnson outboard motor? I got a johnson v6 200 horse outboard motor and i did a compression test on it and all cylinders were reading about 80 psi, is that good for that type of boat motor? when i was testing the compression i took all spark plugs out started with #1 cylinder then i just crank the motor over for about 3-5 sec and they read 80psi, is that right or did i do it wrong? I'm sure i'm some info but let me know what you think. i don't think 80# is too low on a stock engine, especially if you didn't warm it up first. i check them every day and they range between 80 to 100 #. the fact that they are even is a good thing.you don't say what year it is, but johnson had a low compression v6 that was about 6to1 compression ratio for a few years. as the other post stated, warm the engine to operating temp, remove all of the plugs, open the throttle to wide open, and be SURE it's in neutral or remove the prop if you want to keep all of your toes. use a remote starter button or a jumper wire, yellow/red to battery + if you don't have a helper to turn the key. 80 psi is way low, you must read with throttle fully opened, did you run compression test with the engine dry cold or with a warm engine, this will give a total different reading.. You want numbers like 140-150 with 110 as a minimum...each within 10 % There is no specified minimum compression. If all cylinders are within 10% the engine is healthy. 1. Fully charge battery. 2. Start engine and warm her up. 3. Remove all spark plugs and disconnect fuel line. 4. Rig a jumper to engage starter solenoid without turning ignition on. Just make sure your ignition is disabled with the plugs out and cranking over. I've seen some meters go "boom" if this is not done. 5. Screw guage into #1. 6. Turn engine over until reading on guage stops increasing or 5 times, whichever is more. 7. Repeat #5 for all cylinders. if the numbers are well within 10% of each other, its usually healthy. HELP? 2006 subaru impreza wrx sti with 50k miles. whenever i turn on the car the idle dips very low to almost stalling point for about 5-10 seconds then itll go back up to normal. my car also feels like it is misfiring sometimes when i drive it. the idle goes up and down sometimes but usually is good other than the low idle dip startup issue. i brought it to a couple shops and they both cant figure out what the problem is. they just say to keep driving on it until it gets worse. the car has no check engine lights and i just replaced the sparkplugs and fuel pump due to an issue the car had before this(car would crank but not start). any ideas and advice is greatly appreciated. thanks. car insurance. Isuzu . How to Tow an S-10The Chevrolet S-10 pickup was made in the United States by the Chevrolet Division of General Motors Corporation from 1982 to 2004. It is still made in Brazil for use outside of the United States. Towing the S-10 is easiest if the truck is carried on its own trailer. When towing the Chevrolet S-10, avoid damaging the S-10s transmission by disconnecting the drive shaft from the rear end if the S-10 is a 2X4 (two-wheel drive) or from the rear end and the forward transaxle if it's a 4X4. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Adjustable wrench Short bungee cords Step by Step : 1 Jack the S-10's back end up and set jack stands under the frame of the S-10 at the rear of the truck to support its weight. Disconnect the four bolts that connect the drive shaft (the drive shaft is the long skinny metal shaft that runs along the centerline of the bottom of truck; it runs from a boxy-looking thing, the transmission) to the rear end, using a socket wrench with a Torx bit. Do not attempt to disconnect the drive shaft from the transmission. Disconnecting the drive shaft at the transmission will lead to loss of your transmission oil. Store the bolts removed from the rear end/drive shaft junction where they will not become lost. 2 Slide the drive shaft forward far enough to ensure that it will not slip back into place. The drive shaft is designed to slide to accommodate for towing. Hold the drive shaft up against one of the parts of the framework that the truck's body sits on. Use a short bungee cord to tie the disconnected end of the drive shaft to a part of the framework, effectively locking it to the bottom of the truck so that it cannot fall to the ground. 3 If the truck is a 4X4, repeat the process, removing the bolts that hold the shaft to the front transaxle, moving the shaft so that it cannot accidentally become reconnected, and tying the shaft to the frame with a short bungee cord. 4 Attach a tow bar to the front bumper or front frame of the S-10 pickup truck. Tow bars vary greatly in their means of attachment, so always follow the instructions for the tow bar you select to tow the truck. 5 After the tow bar is attached to the front bumper of the S-10, set the socket of the tow bar over the ball of the trailer hitch that is mounted on the vehicle you plan to use to tow the S-10. Latch the socket in place over the trailer hitch ball if a latch is present. Set the safety chains from the tow bar onto the mounting of the trailer hitch on the towing vehicle. The S-10 may now be towed safely. Tips & Warnings If you plan to use the truck--if you're towing it behind your motor home and will be switching between motor home and truck frequently--you may find it more convenient to buy a car dolly and tow it by the rear wheels. This will require mounting temporary brake lights on the front of the S-10. Another alternative is to use a full trailer. Do not work under a vehicle supported by a jack only. This project requires the use of tools in a potentially hazardous situation. Appropriate caution should be taken. ResourcesChevroletForum.com: S-10 Questions
Isuzu . How to Adjust CoiloverCustom cars have many suspension options, but one of the more popular ones is a coilover. It replaces the existing shock and coil combination with an adjustable spring. It's easy to adjust, and means that the driver can adjust the height of their vehicle for show or for better performance. In this example, we're going to adjust the coilovers on a 1995 Honda Accord, but the process is the same for all vehicles. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Penetrating lubricant Adjusting wrenches (provided with the coilovers) Tape measure Step by Step : 1 Measure from the floor to the top of the fender lip using the tape measure. Adjusting coilovers can involve a bit of trial and error, so by having this original measurement, you can find out how much exactly you've gone up or down, depending on your needs. 2 Lift the vehicle using the jack and place it on jackstands. Be sure the vehicle is secure and that the tires are at full droop. 3 Use the two adjusting wrenches provided in the kit so that you break loose the bottom nut of the coilover. This is the nut that keeps everything tight and secure, and prevents the coilover from adjusting on its own. Loosen that bottom nut several turns down, just to give you freedom to work on the other nut. 4 Turn the top adjusting note up or down depending on your need. In this case, we're going to lower the vehicle, so we're going to turn it counterclockwise to drop it down. As previously noted, this involves a bit of trial and error, so you may have to repeat this step, but try to be as consistent as possible between each side-to-side adjustment. 5 Tighten the bottom nut back up onto the top nut, keeping the two secure against each other. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the vehicle. 6 Lower the vehicle off of the jack stands and measure your results. If you need to move it up or down to make the vehicle level, just repeat the process in smaller increments. Tips & Warnings Always be sure to have the vehicle secure on jack stands before you work underneath it. You could get hurt or damage the vehicle if you're not careful. *Because tires are heavy, you may have a little trouble lifting the spare into place — especially if you're not accustomed to lifting heavy things. If this is the case, a bit of ingenuity may help; see the sidebar "A little ingenuity goes a long way" for details. 5. After you have the spare tire in place, replace the lug nuts and tighten them by hand. Give each lug nut a jolt with the wrench to get it firmly into place, but wait until the car is on the ground before you really try to tighten the lug nuts. Remember, right-hand threaded nuts tighten in a clockwise direction; 132

And don't hit the hubcap with a wrench or hammer — you'll dent it. Whack it a couple of times, in a couple of places, to be sure that it's on evenly and securely.
